Hagen Fendler

Chief Design Officer（CDO） at TCL Communication

Mr. Hagen has worked as CDO for TCL Communication since September 2016. In this role he is responsible for the development of all products of TCL TCT across all brand platforms like BlackBerry, Alcatel, TCL or Palm.

Mr. Fendler brings over 20 years of award-winning design and innovation management experience to TCL. Throughout his career he has worked for top corporate clients such as: Siemens, Audi, BMW, Ford, Telekom, Lufthansa, Swatch and Wella.

Previously he has worked 4 years as ZTE’s Shanghai-based Chief Design Officer and was responsible for the development and implementation of ZTE’s global design strategy including ID, UI and UE.

Prior to his time at ZTE, Mr. Fendler worked as the Global Chief Design Director for Huawei and as the head of product concepts for Siemens. He also served as CEO of VanBerlo Strategy + Design. Additionally, he worked as a director for the Cologne-based yellow circle / yellow design GmbH.

He is the recipient of over 35 international design awards, including the Red Dot Best of the Best, the IF Design Award and Good Design. He also received the World Brand Leadership award for Global Brand Excellence.

He serves as chairman and jury member for various international awards including the prestigious “if design award” and is booked regularly as keynote speaker on international design congresses.

Mr. Fendler holds a degree in industrial design from Pforzheim University in Germany and a professorship at the Technical University in Munich for Brand and Design Theory.
