Lee Soon-in (Korea)

Former President and present Senate of ICSID, Executive Managing Director of Seoul Design Center

 

Professor of Hongik University in Seoul and Chair of Korea 3D Printing Design Forum

Dean of international Design school for Advanced Studies at Hongik University in Seoul untill 2012.

In 1990 he became president of the LG Europe Design Center.

In 1995, he worked as director of the LG Electronics Corporate Design Center in Seoul, and became Executive Managing Director of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP), where he reported National Design Policy and planned 5 year National Design Promotion Strategy 2001-2005 and 2006-2010.

Since 2003, he has been a lecturer in design management at graduate school of Hong-Ik University in Seoul and Dean of International Design School for Advanced Studies (IDAS) in Seoul.

He is engaged in the work of renowned committees and institutions. He was, for example, Secretary General of the ICSID Congress Seoul 2001 and an advisor to the Design Committee of the Korea/Japan World Cup Game 2002(1997 to 2003) and World Design Capital 2010 Seoul.

He has been invited to International Design competition Juror (Reddot, IF, Brown, Redstar, Rotus, China design Award)

He was a Chair of the Korea Design & Brand Management Society and general director for Gwangju Design Biennale 2007 in Korea.

He received National Presidential Design Award (1990), Good Design Selection Presidential Award (1995) and National Presidential Medal (2001).

 

He graduated from the Hong-Ik University in Seoul with a BA in Industrial Design in 1972 and an MA in Interior Design in 1978, and completed his studies at the Pratt Institute, New York, and the Domus Academy, Milan.

He further graduated from Helsinki University with an MBA in Design Management in 2001. Recently, Soon-In Lee has been working on his dissertation for a PhDat UT in the Netherlands.
