Li Yiwen is founder or cofounder of the Department of Industrial Design under the School of Architecture, Shenzhen University, the Department of Furniture Design, the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, College of Industrial Design, Nanjing University of the Arts. He also established the first industrial design company in Shenzhen - Shenzhen University Industrial Design Co., Ltd, Shenzhen Yiwen Arts and Design Co., Ltd., Hong Kong Yiwen Design Development Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Hongcheng Science & Technology Co., Ltd. and Hong Kong Huiyi Asia Co., Ltd. which independently developed “Lvyi Bamboo Products” that was precedent in independent design and development of Chinese design enterprises in the Canton Fair and international product trade fair. The products were sold to Europe and the United States, favored by international chain firms such as IKEA, Sweden, BODYSHOP, the UK and TOWS COMPANY, the United States. The bamboo products won numerous awards both at home and abroad.
He published dozens of books and dissertations, won 8 national or provincial awards and was named one of the top ten Chinese design educators by China Industrial Design Association in 2013.
