1996-present established and led multi-disciplinary integrated innovation team of Lenovo, including a dozen of full value chain innovation disciplines such as design, user research, structure, engineering innovation, won over a thousand of patents and 160-odd domestic and international design awards, such as IDEA, Red Dot, IF, G-mark, Red Star, etc.. In 2009, he was selected by T3 - the reputed consumer electronics magazine in the UK, as one of the World’s 100 Most Influential People in Science and Technology.
2013 led the Lenovo design and user experience team to achieve the world highest honor in design - Red Dot Design Team of the Year, which was the only Chinese enterprise that won the award following the Porsche global design team winning it in 2012, and was also the only Asian company that won the award in past decade. In the same year, Yao Yingjia was awarded the "World's Outstanding Chinese Designer" by Hong Kong Design Centre; Rory Cellan Jones, the BBC senior science and technology correspondent, praised Yao Yingjia as "Design Master" in a report on Lenovo.
