Shikuan Chen

2009 May ~ present: Senior Vice President, Corp. Marketing & Innovation, Compal Electronics, Inc. World Design Organization (WDO), Board Director. Shih-Chien University, Design Prof.

With over 27+ years of practice in the design field, Shikuan currently leads a team of 250+ computing and communication/mobile devices design experts at Compal Electronics, and is responsible for creating business and design strategy + portfolio roadmap for the global computing & mobile devices industry.  Since Shikuan’s onboard, Compal’s Global Creativity Ranking (by iF awards) this period has elevated from no.200+ in 2009 to no.27 in 2017.

Shikuan currently sits in the Board of WDO (World Design Organization) & also serves as jury for various design competitions both globally and locally (iF Design Award, iF d&g awards, iF concept awards, Taiwan Int’l Design Competition, China Design Int’, etc.). He teaches part time as a Design Professor at Taipei Shih-Chien University, and has been a visiting lecturer at various design universities and seminars in the greater China region since 1995, and is arguably one of the most high profile spokespersons for the country’s design industry. Currently Shikuan also serves as consultant for varies Taiwan Gov. organizations, e.g. the Taipei City Gov. for 2016 WDC program, Taiwan Design Center, Ministry of Culture, The Palace Museum, ITRI, etc.

Prior to joining Compal, Shikuan has worked for Royal Philips/Philips Design as Branch/Design/Global Account Director for over 7 years, and before that, he was Managing Director of GE/FITCH design consultancy Taiwan Branch for over 4 years.
