 Sooshin Choi | CEO & CDO, The Modus Design LLCMichigan, USA Sooshin Choi is an industrial designer, design educator and a design influencer. He is currently CEOand CDO of The Modus Design LLC, offering the design innovation service and advanced educationfor design professionals. As a professional designer, he has 18 years of automotive design experience at General MotorsKorea and Kia Motors, 5 years of system furniture design at Fursys, and 3 years of innovative productdesign at DEKA Research & Development. He has been conducting collaborative projects with Procter & Gamble, Samsung Electronics, LGElectronics, Hyundai Motors, Crown Equipment, Boeing Company, Mead, Mako Surgical Corp, Phoenix Contact, Surecco (Hangzhou), and Suncha Bamboo & Wood (Hangzhou). As an educator, he was Provost & Vice President at the College for Creative Studies for 4 years. Hehas taught at and was School Director at the University of Cincinnati for over 10 years before joiningCCS. His research focus includes innovation by design and inclusive design. As a design influencer, he is a frequent speaker at conferences, corporations, and academia globally. He also served as a judge and a jury for numerous international design competitions including IDEA, Braun Prize, and Chinese Car Design Award. Choi has been passionate about supporting Chinese design and design education since 2006. Professor Choi has served as the IDSA Education Vice President from 2012-2014 and the Chair forthe IDSA International Conference 2016. He is a recipient of prestigious awards such as IF Hannover,IDEA, Good Design Award as well as IDSA Educator of the Year in 2014.
